villa-bio-1-554x558.jpg

This villa is designed by Enric Ruiz-Geli’s firm Cloud9. It is an example of usual contemporary structure made of concrete but with a quite intriguing shape and very usual features that changes its look entirely. The most cool feature is that the building itself is the extension of the site. It is conceived as a growing C-shaped spiral with grass and plants on the roof. Besides hydroponic rooftop garden there is an underground garage so the structure is very economical and environmental. There is a lot of glazing in the house and its rear features an almost 50 foot-wide expanse of glass. Being environmental by itself the house also features the landscape views from many rooms. { Cloud9 }

Amon is hunkered down in his studio deep in the redwoods of Northern Californian and has begun work on a new album. In addition to researching and developing new production tools and techniques of his own, he’s ensconced himself in a whole new array of gadgetry from the past and the future that will help continue to push the boundaries of what is possible with sound and music.

Tour dates and outside projects have been put on the back burner for now – Amon recently tuned down a lucrative high profile scoring opportunity amongst other things- in order to focus solely on what can best be described as an auditory space walk.

We’ll be posting new info as the album progresses but be prepared for a long haul, these are the outer limits after all. Keep checking back or sign up on the mailing list to stay in the loop.

People love to be entertained. That is why laughter has an enormous power when it comes to advertising. The use of humor in advertising campaigns does not only get the attention of consumers, it also make your product or service easier to recall or remember. If there is one advertisement that you seem to remember up to this day, I am sure it is one of those funny ads you saw on a billboard while driving on a highway.

Sean Hannity – A Real Con Man

While right-wing whackos like Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin have been getting all the headlines recently, some others like Sean Hannity have been sort of flying under the radar. Now it turns out that Hannity may be the biggest con man of them all — a real con man bilking his fans out of millions of dollars in a fake charity.

Humans are like goats. We’ll eat any damned thing. Just ask the people who make PowerBars.

In fact, you’ll find foods in this world that don’t even seem possible. Not just that they could exist, but that people would actually stick this stuff in their mouths without a gun to their head.

We’ve found six dishes that seemed to have sprung from Satan’s own cookbook.

Six-year-old boy told he will be able to hold chopsticks in a few months

Shenyang, Liaoning – Li Jinpeng, a 6-year-old boy born with 15 fingers and 16 toes, is happy he will soon be able to wear a normal pair of shoes.

Doctors at the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University in Shenyang, Liaoning province, successfully removed Li’s additional fingers and toes in a surgical operation that lasted more than five hours on Tuesday.

Before the surgery, Li, the son of migrant workers from Heilongjiang province, was believed to be the world record holder for having the maximum number of fingers and toes.

He is not the least bit sad at losing the record to two Indians, Pranamya Menaria and Devendra Harne, who each have 12 fingers and 13 toes.

Up on the roof watching the world go by. Nothing like a modern penthouse dropped down slap bang on the roof of an old warehouse complex. Up here it’s just the birds and no pesky neighbours to right or left. Modern simplicity and a pretty cool art collection. Real estate stalking again. Link here while it lasts.

This is why I have a strong dislike of government and our system of lobbyists. Many people in the tech community are becoming increasingly skeptical of Google’s motives in partially pulling out of the Chinese markets and starting to suggest a certain level of hypocrisy.

This week, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-CT) released the latest version of his financial regulatory reform bill, which aims to correct the deficiencies in the financial system that led to 2008’s economic crisis. The House of Representatives has already passed a comprehensive regulatory reform bill, and now that Dodd has given up on negotiating with recalcitrant Republicans, he is moving on an expedited timeline, with a markup scheduled for Monday.

Free & open-source DVD decryption

Fairmount is a free tool which allows on-the-fly decryption of DVD content for convenient access. Fairmount does not perform the actual decryption, it simply forwards the data to VLC Media Player, which is used for the decryption. Hence, VLC Media Player must be installed for Fairmount to work.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs hit the star-studded red carpet at the 82nd Academy Awards yesterday evening.

Oscar night was big for Jobs. He not only traded in his trademark turtleneck for his tux, but his company also debuted its first-ever iPad ad, which was aired twice during the three-and-a-half-hour Academy Award broadcast. (Watch it here).

See photos of Steve Jobs, famous for his California-casual uniform of jeans and New Balance sneakers, in his black-tie ensemble.

Twitter user @WayneSutton was one of the first on the blogosphere to remark of Steve Jobs’ attendance at the awards. ‘OMG it’s Steve Jobs! I’m the only one yelling at him! #oscars #kodakredcarpet,’ Sutton tweeted.

The 12 Biggest Ripoffs in America

Posted by: | Comments (0)

2iiba6d.jpg

Many of us feel ripped off in our day to day spending, so much so that bringing up even a single rip-off story in a group of people is likely to trigger a flood of them from everyone else. Whether it’s at the movies, in restaurants or on vacation, we seldom believe we are getting as much for our money as we ought to. Of course, some rip-off stories are more debatable than others. Often times, what is called a ripoff is little more than someone’s subjective opinion of what they “really” deserve for their money, whatever that means. However, other purchases actually do appear, by all objective criteria, to be a raw deal just about all the time. Today, BillShrink analyzes some common ripoffs as mentioned recently by CNN Money, that most of our readers are likely to be well acquainted with.

Palms sweating, hairs on back of neck standing on end territory. I’m feeling this shit like never before, and the grand old sax lion

of hard blowing German 60’s free music Peter Brotzmann is the one killing me the hardest. He’s playing something called a tarogato here that dates back to the mid 1800’s andhas a gut wrenching tone that I can’t explain and which he milks so hard, your soul will ache. Dude’s in his mid 60’s or so circa this footage and still blowing with gut busting fury…I don’t know where some of these cat’s get their energy reserves from at that age, but it’s envious and amazing. Pure soul food:
